A new look

A fresh new look for the winter months... Well more like the new year.  I was playing around with the wall art and liked this one the best.  How about you? What do you do? Rearrange furniture, photos, place simple flowers on a table?
Blessings~

Wall Art...

I was wanting to hang some of my art... Some old, some new, some thrift-ed and some handmade. So here is how it turned out, I am still thinking it over, a new frame or two, maybe? Try to avoid looking at all the mess.

Toasty toes!!

I finished up some knitting today. Who can resist soft and cozy yarn? I know I can't!! ( I am also working on a blanket for the baby~the green project)Hopefully these will keep Benjamin's toes warm this winter. My daughter is expecting her 2ed child in early November. But the baby seems to think different. He must be like his big sister who was over a month early also. Please pray that the Lord will have his hand covering them, and that all will be well.

The perfect match...

While out and about today, doing my errands I happened to be next to the goodwill (how did that happen?). While looking for my usual paraphernalia I spied this lovely chair. Solid wood, clean, and the color (wow). Doubtful as to the cost, I found the price tag finally 12.00. I grabbed the nearest clerk and had her right me a ticket. My husband will kill me, we have no room in our tiny apartment. But we are moving in a few weeks (yikes), so I know we can find a spot in our new home (hopefully)!!! So with no further ado, here it is...

Quilted brown, old solid wood. Excuse the vac. cord in the back ground as well as the sewing machine cord, and any other un-tidy area. Today is cleaning day, and I usually make a mess when I am cleaning. LOL
Not only did I love it, but it is a perfect match for my sofa. My big, huge, sectional, that never seems to have enough room for everyone!!! I hope you all have similar find in your favorite shops.
Have a good day, I need to finish my cleaning... before the cute guy returns to the house and thinks he's in a war zone.

A Gift from my mom

This is one of the wonderful gifts my mother gave me for Christmas. Her old sewing basket, I was so excited I have been looking for one of these. I was so happy that she found hers, we thought it was long gone. Some photos of my grandparents, always a treasure. The photo in the frame, almost 40 years old is of me. This photo sat on my grandmothers dresser forever, it has been faded with time, just like me. :) And finally a GLH book, I can't believe I have my own GLH. This was my moms when she was a teen. I am so very blessed. :)

The basket is a sage green, and in pretty good condition...
Do you see the point of hair on the top of my head, was this really stylish, an attempt at the big hair??? Any help mom???
Blessings to all...

Thrift Finds

I found this silver serving bowl this past summer. I love to display citrus in it, I can't help my self. I also found this vintage fabric. I was going to cut it up for grocery bags, but it is just to pretty. I couldn't bring my self to do it. So it now grace my table, with it's festive smile. This picture is not very good, but you get the picture.

Cute Gift Wrapping

I finally got the blanket wrapped and off to it's new home. It is now happily cuddling a sweet baby. I am in love with brown butcher paper. Don't ask me why, I just do. I love twine too.... Go figure. Here is a close up of the gift tag, Odd made them she carries them in her etsy shop. This is just one of my favorite I purchased a set before they could even be posted. The blessing of living with a creative girl. If you want to stop by her blog you can see all that she makes http://enjoyingchildhood.blogspot.com/. Have fun visiting my sweet little girl.

Old to new

I went to my mom's for her birthday, I took her a gift also. But she sent me home with some nice treasures, too. Here is an old copper tray that belonged to my grandmother. I am sure it has seen better days. Now here it is almost all shined up. It is taking a long time though, I didn't want to take all of the tarnish off, just the ugly stuff. So for now I will stop polishing and move on to another treasure.......

Here is my new hair dooooooo. Well, it looked better when the master craft'er styled it yesterday. How do you like it mom?
Have a blessed day.

Today I found this neat frame, it's a little scratched. I love the shape, its almost bowl like, and for $ .49, who could resist.
A set of 4 napkins, they go with my out door place mats.

What a steal....

These lovely salad servers, perfect for spring and summer. A splurge $6.99!

Just me! Yikes!
Have a wonderful day!

Cookbook Fun

A yummy healthy dinner. I cooked this in the slow cooker. The meat was so tender, if flaked with the fork. A nice low fat, heart healthy taco. Yummy!

I love to cook. Maybe that is why I attend w.w.? Here are just a few of my favorite cookbooks. I have several boxes in the garage. But I use many of these on a weekly basis. Some are just neat to read.

This a one that the cute guy brought back from Williamsburg, 8 years ago. I have never cooked out of it, but it so neat to read. This is one of my special treasures. The cute guy always knows just the right gift. :)

This is one of my all time favorites. Since I am not frying anymore, I have use this one many times to experiment with roasting. Who new roasted meat could have so much flavor when done correctly. It has been a blessing, and a bargain! I purchased it at TJ-Maxx.

This little jem, was a recent thrift find. I love the recipes, and they really are delicious.

Here is another wonderful find while out thrifting. It works so well with the Home Economics course Audrey is doing this year.

Well I hope you enjoyed reading about my cookbooks. I will share more as I use them. I have a wonderful one for the holidays my mom gave me. Every house wife should have a few good books to fall back on.

Many blessings

All in a days work!

Fresh fruit and iced cranberry juice to start the day off right.
An afternoon game of words.
A hot pot of chicken soup.
A lite bowl of jello.

Who ever said we moms do nothing but eat bon-bons all day! As I reflect on the day (usually as I fall in to my bed at days end), sometimes I find many things are accomplished. Then some days not so much as a crumb is picked up. Well, I have fun and hang out with a really fun young lady. Today as we read the many books to read.... such as Wakefield by N. Hawthorne, and Leonardo Da Vinci by E. Hahn, we laughed, pondered and went places we will most likely never see. But most of all we had fun, yes, even during Hawthorne.I must say some of his short stories are very odd, but I really like his style. After all the "real" work was done we played a game of words. (We call it the word game because we ain't so smart....we doesn't come up with many big words. LOL) We also cooked up a huge pot of soup, some for dinner and some for the freezer. I used my Le Creuset stock pot, purchased for a mere $4.95 at the px it was a sidewalk sale. We ate our $1.50 box of jello in my fancy dishes (my treasures). The dishes were my grandmothers, after she passed, my mother let me take them home. Thanks Mommy!! So you see we do a little more than eat bon-bons- We eat Jello!!
Many blessings
