All Bound Up

I am almost finished with binding up this little quilt. I love the colors I found some fabric in my stash that was perfect for binding. I really need to work on binding... it is a little wonky in some spots.  Until next time...

Cluck, Cluck

I have been spending my time doing a little sewing.  I did a practice run on a little chicken, she is finished but will need to be modified.  She needs to be a little bigger! I have plans for an Easter gift for the grand-babes.  I want to put little wooden eggs with numbers on them for a counting game.  She at this point is a little to small to hold 12 eggs... So for now, this little cutie is holding my thread and bobbins on the sewing table.

Day 21- Making Memories

Its all about a handmade Christmas- For today I am sharing a memory/matching game I made for Ben and Emma.  I printed photos of both my family and Sara's husband Josh's family.  With the kids being so far away I had tucked this idea away for a Christmas gift.  Cousins, Aunts, Uncles, Grandparents and Great Grandparents... all for the kids to remember us by. I may have to update this game as the years progress... Can you imagine at the age of 15 getting this game... cracking myself up... Well for now, while they are little, it will keep faces not see very often familiar.

22- Can you spell Noel...

Emma will be able to with her new fabric alphabet and  basket to hold them. I made them all from leftover scraps. She is 4 years old, and mom said they didn't need anymore toys! However, Grandma is finding a way around this- any way she can. Do you think this counts as a toy? I don't! HA HA

A SEW-A-LONG

Little's and I are doing a sew-a-long over at I have to say, with Randi. We are learning how to make little zipper pouches! This is the fabric I choose, I will post when the project is complete. I am learning how to put in a zipper, sounds scary, but Randi's post really take the fear out of zippers! Enjoy your day!

New Christmas Stockings

Yesterday at the thrift store I found a canvas shower curtain (which was purchased for another project, more on that later) that I knew I needed. After getting home I kept having visions of Christmas stockings... I didn't like my dollar store stockings from a few years ago!! :) So after a few hours of trying to resist the stocking visions, I succumbed to the whimsy of whipping up a few. I used the canvas and traced out the stockings. Then decided to dress them up with a little Christmas cheer. I drew little embellishments out with pencil (so it would wash away). I did four designs because that is all that are left at home. Here they are...

A Christmas tree in a pot.
A fluffy snowman!

A cute little raindeer!

And last but not least, a Christmas Wreath!

For now (mostly to get a picture) they hang on my book case.

On the mend...

We recently brought out our winter coats and to no avail many buttons needed mending. Would you believe every button was loose? Not just your average loose, but hanging by a tread loose!! In fact I had to rummage (we just moved) to find the missing buttons. Thank goodness one was in the pocket and the other was with the other homeless buttons waiting there turn.

So I spent the afternoon refastening all the buttons!
Littles will be nice and toasty, and very happy.

A little sewing...

My new coasters, made from an old shirt and denim fabric from about 5 years ago. Layered with some natural fleece to keep the heat off the table.

I am somewhat perplexed with all this new time on my hands. I frequently find myself board,to the point of sulking, what a pity. So today I did something with my time, other than the usual stuff (laundry, dinner, cleaning). I made some coasters nothing fancy or fussy, but something useful and needed. Today was a bland day made brighter by a little work and ingenuity. The pace will pick up soon enough, we are scheduled to move in early June. So for now I will rejoice in my free time, and get the needed things done, sprinkled with a little fun.

Sew Pretty

An up-cycled linen dress, and sweet vintage pillow case found a new purpose. They are no longer lingering in the bins of the local thrift store, but are ready for the farmers market.
My new market bag... I loved this pillow case, the perfect adornment for lining the simple linen.

In the sewing room

I needed some new hot pads and had not been able to find any that I liked. Then I found this really fun fabric (very bright and vintage looking). So I knew this would be my new hot pads. I used Anna's tutorial from Pleasant View Schoolhouse. All finished and ready to be used.
Audrey whipped up a new cover for the hot water bottle. It has been getting used, very comforting when your not feeling so well.

Blessings to all
