The Simple Breakfast

...There was wonderful oatmeal, steamed all night until each grain stood out softly and separately, with Chrystobel's cream to eat on it, cream almost as thick as the oatmeal. Eaten in old Haviland china saucers with sprigs of forget-me-not on them, and a silver spoon so old it was almost paper thin. Then there were hot rolls and dougnuts and coffee!! Simple breakfast indeed!

Now that is my kind of breakfast. Do you have passages that make you long for a simple life, with true beauty to enjoy? Please share!

I just happened over here from Anna's Sweet Nest blog, and I had to smile when I saw your GLH quote. I'm also a fan....in fact I'm in the midst of trying to decide which one of her novels to read next week, when Easter has come. (I gave up novels for Lent.)
